A part-time Huntingtonian, Alfred E. Knobler founded a small Huntington-based glass plant and expanded the company over time. At the time of Knoblerās induction into the Wall of Fame, Pilgrim Glass Company was known nationally and internationally for its decorative art glass and was evidence of the superb craftsmanship and pride that West Virginians put into their work. A staunch supporter of the arts, Knobler contributed from his private collection of ancient glass to the Huntington Museum of Art.
He generously contributed to Children's Place where he also served on its board of directors.
