Frank E. Hansha Jr. attended Cammack Junior High School and graduated from the Kentucky Military Institute in 1949. He earned a BS in 1953 from Davidson College and completed his MBA at George Washington University. Commissioned in the United States Army in 1953, he continued to serve as a financial officer in the Army Reserve until 1991.
Hanshaw returned to Huntington in 1957 and continued the family tradition at Huntington Wholesale Furniture. Co. Inc. as a third-generation member of its management and sales team. He served as president of the National Wholesale Furniture Association in 1978, was the Association's "Man of the Year" in 1978 and was elected to its Hall of Fame in 1983.
He has also served as treasurer and president of the Huntington Area Chamber of Commerce, director of Huntington Federal Savings Bank, trustee of Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church, president of the United Way of the River Cities, board member of the Huntington Foundation, chairman of the Marshall University Library Association and president of the Huntington Rotary Club.
For three decades, Hanshaw assisted the Greater Huntington Park and Recreation District in matching federal, state and local funds to improve parks and facilities.
