Jane Shepherd

1988 Inductee

Jane Shepherd, known professionally as Jane Hobson, was considered one of the great singers of America. Her golden-toned voice, feel for the dramatic, personal style and beauty brought joy to audiences from Carnegie Hall to Marshall University’s Old Main Auditorium.

When not on stage, Shepherd inspired students at Marshall University where she used her talent to serve as an artist-in-residence and professor of music. Shepherd’s love for Huntington and dedication to the community were apparent in the generous manner by which she so freely gave of herself and her gift of song.
