Nancy L. Francis

1990 Inductee

Naney Francis dedicated her life to helping others. One of the first people who was called when a job needed to be done, Francis played a vital part in the founding of Hospice of Huntington, United Way of the River Cities, the Huntington Museum of Art and the Yeager Scholars.

She served as the president and chairwoman of the Junior League Garden Club, the Junior League of Huntington, United Community Services, the Huntington Museum of Art, Hospice of Huntington, United Way of the River Cities, the Yeager Scholars, the Guyan Women's Tennis Association and the Junior Assistance League.

Many organizations honored Francis and in 1990, she was named "Person of the Year" by the Cabell County Medical Auxiliary. Francis, who was always humble about her contributions to the community, stated that her work provided all the reward that she needed.

"Whatever part I have played in helping where needed has brought me great joy and lasting friendship. Therefore, it is truly not appropriate or necessary to honor me for what I love doing."
