Violet McCloud Midkiff

2004 Inductee

Violet McCloud Midkiff was born in 1918 in Mud Fork, Logan County, West Virginia, and graduated from Logan High School in 1934. She was married to the late Egbert Midkiff and they have one son, Carl. 

Violet moved to Huntington after successfully operating numerous businesses in Logan and became one of Huntington's most influential business leaders in the fields of real estate construction, insurance and lodging/ She was president of several Huntington corporations including AAA Realty, AAA Home Builders, Prestige Properties and UpTowner Inns. 

Midkiff dedicated her professional life to the vitalization of Huntington, its surrounding communities and to West Virginia. She participated in many award-winning residential and commercial developments including the former Huntington Superblock. 

She was president of several local and state organizations, including the Huntington Board of Realtors, West Virginia Association of Realtors, West Virginia Hotel/Motel Association, West Virginia's Women's Council of Realtors, City of Huntington Foundation, and the Tri-State Home Builders Association. She served as a member of the board of directors of the West Virginia Democratic Women's Association, Cabell-Huntington Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Homebuilders Association of West Virginia.
