C. Bosworth Johnson was a journalist, anchorman, news director, professor and civic leader. Often honored by both the community and the broadcasting industry for his work, Johnson received the Distinguished Service Award in 1962 and was named Outstanding Young Man of the Year in 1959. Johnson served as national president of the Radio and Television News Directors Association in 1973-74 and was awarded the Preceptor Award in 1983 by San Francisco State University for industry leadership.
He was active in a number of civic and charitable organizations and served as president of the Cabell-Wayne United Community Service Organization.
