A native of Mississippi, Dr. Charles H. Moffat moved to Huntington in 1946 to teach at what was then Marshall College. However, his talents and skills were not confined to Marshall. Nationally known as a historian, public speaker and author, Moffat delivered more than 1,000 lectures and addresses in more than 15 states and three foreign countries.
A founder of the Marshall University Honors Program, he is the author of “Marshall University, An Institution Comes of Age.”
Moffat was the recipient of the Silver Medal awarded by the Sons of the American Revolution and the Booker T. Washington Plaque awarded by Huntington Ebenezer Outreach Center.
