George Daniel Clark

George Daniel "Danny" Clark was born July 30, 1925, the eleventh child of George F. Clark and Oddarine Clark. He graduated from Barboursville High School in 1944.

He then enlisted in the Navy and served from 1944-46 in WWII in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters. He began his college career in 1946, attending Marshall College on a football scholarship.

He graduated in 1950 with a bachelor’s degree in physical education and social studies. In 1968, he earned his master’s degree in school administration.

His love of education and concern for the young people of Cabell County inspired him to teach school for more than 35 years and serve on the Board of Education for another eight years.

Clark also volunteered in the Ninth National Conference on Juvenile Justice, Tri-State Fire Academy, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Barboursville Lions Club, Marshall University and American Legion. He also is a Kentucky Colonel.

In 1946, Clark married Lucy Tomblin. The couple has two children, Brenda and Steve; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Clark has been a member of Barboursville United Methodist Church for more than 60 years.
