Herbert L. Eiselstein

1996 Inductee

Huntington was home to Herbert L. Eiselstein, an internationally-renowned inventor and visionary whose work has affected many lives. His inventive genius in creating several patented nickel-based superalloys made possible advances in aircraft engines; rocket and space vehicles; electrical power generation; and the production of chemicals and petrochemical products and alloys used in everyday applications such as heating elements on electric stoves in our homes.

Eiselstein lived in Huntington from the time he was a child and worked his entire career at Inco Alloys International. He retired as Vice President of Technology, Research and Development. His innovations have formed the basis of alloy developments around the world. Among his many accomplishments is the invention and development of more than 20 percent of the alloys that were being produced by Inco Alloys International in the 1990s.

Eiselstein mentored younger chemists by providing his personal guidance and technical expertise. Through his continued encouragement, he fostered the study and acceptance of new technical ideas.
