Kevin W. Yingling

2018 Inductee

A pharmacist and physician, Dr. Kevin W. Yingling is a long-term resident of greater Huntington, Barboursville and Ona. He has served the citizens of the area over several decades in patient care and in graduate medical and pharmacy education. From 2011-17, he served as founding dean of the Marshall University School of Pharmacy. In addition, Yingling served more than 10 years as chairman of the Department of Internal Medicine at the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine. 

Yingling is a 1976 graduate of Barbourville High School, and received his B.S. in pharmacy from West Virginia University and his M.D. degree from Marshall University. He completed his residency and fellowship at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. He is a member of the Rho Chi Society and the Alpha Omega Alpha Society, pharmacy and medical honorary respectively. Yingling returned to Huntington in 1990 to fulfill his passion for making a difference for others through teaching, education and patient care. 

In 2010, he was honored with the Laureate Award from the West Virginia Chapter of the American College of Physicians, recognizing excellence in medical care, education or research. In 2012, he was recognized by Marshall University with the first, distinguished alumni award from the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine. In 2014, he was selected to the Centennial Hall of Fame for WVU School of Pharmacy. In 2017, he was the recipient of the Bowl of Hygeia award from West Virginia Pharmacy Association, the most prestigious award of the association. In 2018, he was awarded the Excellence in Diversity, Joseph and Omayma Touma Lifetime Achievement Award.

Yingling now serves as chairman of the Board of Directors for Cabell Huntington Hospital and Mountain Health Network, guiding the formation of a unified healthcare delivery system in Huntington. His commitment to improve the health of the underserved is demonstrated by participation in faith-based and humanitarian medical missions to Russia, Bolivia, Honduras, Nicaragua and Haiti.
