Lawrence E. Bruce, Jr.

1991 Inductee

Lawrence E. Bruce Jr. is a man who knows the impact that even the smallest act can have. He knows that the sound of a child's plea "Trick or Treat for UNICEF" compares only to the trickle of clean water drawn from a well in an African village. As President and Chief Executive Officer of the U.S. Committee for UNICEF, Bruce knows that digging a well can drastically improve the quality of life for an entire village. He also knows that each well starts with the nickels and dimes that children collect for UNICEF.

A graduate of Marshall University and the West Virginia University School of Law, Bruce has dedicated his life to" changing the world." Before joining UNICEF, Bruce served as the Executive Vice President and Counsel for AFS International/Intercultural Programs, an organization promoting intercultural understanding through a worldwide exchange program.

He also served for five years with the InterAmerican Foundation, an association to support social and economic development in nongovernmental sectors of Latin America and the Caribbean. Bruce is a member of the American Bar Association, the International Law Association, the West Virginia Bar Association, and the Center for InterAmerican Relations. He also serves as a member of the AFS International Caribbean Programs Advisory Council.
